Burnett Highway Widening

  • Road widened, and 6 new bus stops built between Tangool and Lawgi.

Heavy vehicle safety

  • $25.5 million Gregory Highway upgrade to provide safer roads and access for heavy vehicles and motorists. 
  • Upgrades include:
    • Corry Road and Cotherston Road intersection—cater for Type 2 road trains
    • Gregory Highway north of Emerald—new decoupling facility for road trains
    • Gregory Highway—3 heavy vehicle stopping bays
    • Between Emerald and Clermont—3 new overtaking lanes
    • Capella and Clermont—9km of wider roads
    • Retreat Creek overflow and Theresa Creek overflow—replaced culverts.

Dawes Range Reconstruction

  • 1,800 tonnes of material used to reconstruct Gladstone-Monto Road, Dawes Range following Ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie in 2017.
  • $1.1 million project funded through the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements.
