Buoy Mooring pilot

  • 2 Buoy Mooring Proof of Concepts were delivered to help boaties easily locate, book, renew and pay for buoy mooring online.
  • The new systems will help streamline the administration, compliance and reporting requirements for around 6,000 buoy mooring locations found in our rivers and estuaries.

Public transport services

  • 17,000 TransLink bus trips to Mackay Airport, route 303, from November 2016 to November 2017.
  • Mackay bus stops requiring upgrades to meet the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 standards are funded by TMR’s Passenger Transport Accessible Infrastructure Program.  

Peak Downs Highway (Nebo to Mackay)–Eton Range Realignment Project

  • Peak Downs Highway–Eton Range is the only designated B-double route from Mackay west to the Northern Bowen Basin.
  • To reduce the need to close the range for oversized vehicle use, project works will include widening the range from 2 to 4 lanes, a split carriageway and partial realignment of the existing range crossing.
  • January 2018 a small section driving up the highway was opened to traffic.

Sandy Gully Bridge and approaches upgrade

  • Sandy Gully Bridge and approaches upgrade completed in December 2017, a busy tourist route and industrial link, will help keep the community and economies moving during significant weather events.

Peak Downs Highway Timber Bridges replacement Project

  • Completed the replacement of 4 timber bridges at Fiery Creek, Lonely Creek, Boundary Creek and Cut Creek.
  • The new bridges are wider providing a safer road environment between heavy vehicles and other motorists.
