What we offer

Our people are our most important asset.

We offer a range of benefits including:

All this, on top of the opportunity to work on programs, projects and initiatives that have a meaningful impact on the lives of our customers and communities.

Flexible work arrangements

We understand that life outside work is important. Embracing flexible work practices creates workplaces that are inclusive, diverse and connected. We acknowledge that flexible working is a powerful retention tool, enabling greater inclusion and wellbeing, and environmental and organisational sustainability.

We recognise that flexible work options are important to our people for a wide range of reasons, including managing wellbeing, balancing aspects of personal life such as sport, special interests, volunteering, and caring responsibilities.

We understand that flexible work is not just about working from home. Our managers work with individuals to implement an option (or options) that works for both the employee and the wider business.

Some of the options available include:

  • Part-time arrangements enable our employees to work fewer hours, so that they can balance family, caring, interests, obligations outside of work
  • Flexible hours enable our employees to vary their work hours and pattern
  • Flexible workplace locations allow our employees to work part of their hours at home or other department offices
  • Accrued hours enable employees to save the extra hours they've worked and take time off later.

Professional growth and development

We connect employees to continuous learning opportunities that offer development in more ways than one.

Our learning options to support employee development include mentoring, coaching, formal training, job shadowing, networking, and access to a variety of tools to conduct individual research.

Some of the options available include:

  • a library of development resources enables our employees to access learning tools, courses and videos to grow their knowledge of our department
  • access to over 8000 courses on LinkedIn Learning allows our employees access to online learning tools.
  • study and research assistance is offered to assist our employees to undertake study or research in areas that benefit both you and us.

Leave options

We have a range of benefits and conditions for employees covered by our 3 certified agreements. A range of benefits and conditions also exist for our Senior Officer and Senior Executive Service employees.

In addition to conditions and entitlements within the certified agreements and awards that apply to the department, employees may also make use of:

  • parental leave: 14 weeks paid maternity or adoption leave (pro rata for part time and long-term casuals), with the possibility of up to 2 years unpaid parental leave if the child's primary carer. Eligible employees can also work part time until their child starts school.
